SAVVY started in 2001 with four teenage pupils, passionate about drama and performance.

Since then the initial group has grown into a respected young company, producing unique and challenging theatre projects, with performances at a wide range of venues including the Oval House Theatre in London, the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill, the Electric Theatre in Guildford and locally at the Charles Cryer, Croydon Warehouse and Secombe theatres.

In 2007, SAVVY officially became a not-for-profit theatre company dedicated to Youth & Community Arts.

Formed in 2001, THE YOUNG COMPANY is a weekly group for teenage artists who are passionate about theatre and performance.

In 2007 SAVVY'S ADULT COMPANY started with the aim of giving tuition and guidance to those wishing to study the craft of acting.

In 2005 SAVVY COMMUNITY PROJECTS began with a series of inclusive workshops bringing together people aged from 2 to over 70 years of age!

SAVVY often employs professional actors, directors, costume designers, puppeteers, choreographers etc... either for one-off workshops or projects in the pipeline.

SAVVY was founded by Sheree Vickers, current Artistic Director and former street performer - an existence that gave her the ability to take RISKS!

Through her early work with school and community groups, Sheree noticed that although the process of drama could be exciting and valuable for the participants, very often the presentation was arduous for the audience, as many of them only 'woke-up' when someone they knew was on the stage.

Therefore, the aim of SAVVY is to create theatre that is not only inspiring and enjoyable for those involved in its production, but one that will give the audience a worthwhile and memorable experience also.

Although based in the Sutton, Wallington & Croydon areas of South London, SAVVY continues to maintain and build links further afield and is always interested to hear from people and companies involved in any of the following:
Youth & Community Theatre
Puppetry Masks
Street Theatre
• Circus

Comedy
SEN ...
... in fact, anyone who believes in the power of the performing arts when it comes to personal growth, the right of all individuals to artistic expression and anyone involved in the arts who is prepared to take a risk and challenge/question the 'norm' !!
