A weekly drama group for people who are at risk of, or experiencing homelessness, working in partnership with Crisis skylight Croydon
SAVVY first worked with Crisis Skylight Croydon in 2018, providing the opportunity for homeless people to attend their Christmas production of Robin Hood: Missing In Action at Braithwaite Hall.
In 2019 an official partnership started with a 12 month project designed to engage homeless people in the performing arts. Funded by Arts Council England, the new Crisis Averted Company take part in weekly drama workshops and performance opportunities, with the chance to see productions at Fairfield Halls, work with other SAVVY groups, and gain the confidence and skills needed to increase their chances of getting back into work and ending their homelessness.
Their inaugural show was an original piece entitled “Back In 5 Minutes” performed in full-face Mask at the official opening of the SAVVY Studio.
SAVVY is a registered charity and relies on project funding, ticket sales and contributions to our various campaigns, in order to maintain and develop our ongoing programmes of work.
