We're incredibly proud of what we do at SAVVY Theatre. Here's just some of what our members, visitors, support staff and attendees of our shows have said about our work.

"They really love it and it's made them into a little community. Vital for wellbeing and connection."

Councillor Oliver Lewis

cabinet Member for Culture & Regeneration in Croydon

"SAVVY’s unique energy, inclusivity and creativity, and their exciting and memorable performances make them a real asset to our cultural scene and to our newly-refurbished arts centre. They make a huge difference to so many lives locally, helping residents of all ages and abilities to develop their confidence and talents. We are proud and delighted to welcome them to Croydon and look forward to working with them in the future."

Paula Murray

Creative director, Croydon Council

"Just to say that a week on I am still smiling at Treasure Island - what an impressive production and at such a scale.

Great production values and energetic performances. SAVVY is leading the way when it comes to integrated theatre practise. True inclusion at work."

“SAVVY accepts members for who they are and adapts scripts, scenes and shows to members abilities to make them shine”

“Everyone is welcome and everybody is different. SAVVY is my second family”

“SAVVY gives me the opportunity to try new things and develop new skills”

“SAVVY makes me happy. It is exciting. And we are all a bit crazy”

“I’d like to say a personal thank you from staff and students for yesterday as you guys made us feel really welcome and part of the group from the get go. Alice and yourself were amazing and really understood how best to support each learner which was so nice to see, but most importantly they all had fun and left with big smiles on their faces.

We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves”

"Just been to see the production of A Midsummer Nights Dream in Beddington Park and I loved it! It was fantastically acted, the props and use of the park were genius, and I can't remember when I've enjoyed a version of this play more! (and I've seen it a lot...) Wonderfully immersive theatre. Wickedly funny and a truly talented company."

“I had such a good time and it was so lovely to see first-hand the incredible work you do and all of the different inclusive groups you work with. It was clear what an impact Savvy has on the lives of the people who attend and there was such a positive community feel throughout the evening which was so nice to witness.”

"I am amazed that I managed to see three SAVVY Theatre productions this year, which I enjoyed all of, but the one that sticks out for me was the Hospital Food production.  I had all of the emotions in one hour, laughter, tears and fear and that is what in my opinion makes great theatre.  Keep on doing what you’re doing as you make a difference to people’s lives."

I would like to pass my congratulations to you and your team at Savvy Theatre Company on being amongst the first recipients of the Mayor’s Young Londoners Fund. Your work will make a huge difference to young Londoners and provide them access to opportunities and activities that they may not otherwise have had."

Young company ALUMNI

Liv is an alumni of the Young Company at SAVVY Theatre.

Now studying Psychology at the University of Sheffield, Liv hasn’t let her passion for acting grow cold. Liv describes herself as an active member of the Sheffield University Theatre Company.

Whilst acting, she has also gotten stuck into the production side of theatre, producing a performance of Agatha Christie’s 'And The There Were None’.

Most recently, Liv set designed for Only Lucky Dogs Theatre Company, on a show that will be taken to the Edinburgh Fringe next August. Between this and being on the University of Sheffield Theatre Company publicity committee, she is certainly getting her theatre fix!

Yash is another alumni of the Young Company who wrote to us:

"Well I’m currently living in Spain for my year abroad and really reflecting on my time at SAVVY.

It gave me the confidence I have today and helped me to grow whilst in secondary school. Being almost at the end of university, I’m already considering joining the adult company when I move back home!"

"I really learned a lot – about how to work with people with disabilities and how that it doesn’t matter what mood you’re in you’ve still got to get on with it and drama helps you overcome that and get in a better mood."

"Drama with SAVVY Theatre gave the step I needed to pursue what I thought was impossible at the time for a challenged young person like myself"
