Anniversary Gala

SAVVY celebrated it's 10th Anniversary in style with a Gala event at the Braithwaite Hall, in the presence of the Worshipful Mayor of Croydon, Cllr Toni Letts OBE. In addition to launching our Summer Season, the night also brought a few surprises - with swordfights, puppets, masks and a very special announcement ...
Lost In Space
On Saturday, 19th May, our Action Replay and Take-2 drama groups blasted off on a sci-fi themed adventure, travelling to distant planets and encountering a few aliens along the way! This inclusive cast was inspired by an array of classic sci-fi shows and movies, and included an alien space battle, Masters of the Universe and an 80's rock anthem soundtrack!

But it didn't end there - for the month of May and into June, their work was re-invented at the Shoestring Theatre, working with Output Arts and pupils from the Oasis Rylands Academy in South Norwood, where a sensory workshop installation was created ...

A Midsummer Night's Dream
22nd - 24th June, Beddington Park, Sutton
Audience's were cordially invited to the Royal Wedding!
Duke Theseus was marrying his fair Hippolyta and the Royal Household made all the necessary arrangements, however these hapless Players had never organised a wedding before and got themselves in a muddle. Shakespeare’s favourite summer play was enjoyed in true SAVVY style with music, mayhem, and just a dose of fairy magic!
Alice's Mad Boat Party
To finish our Summer Season, audience members experienced Alice In Wonderland on a boat sailing up the River Thames - watching the story unfold and getting involved with interactive games. Different characters joined us along the way and the whole three-hour experience culminated in an actual tea party with the Mad Hatter.
Woven StorieS

Working in partnership with the Refugee and Migrant Network Sutton, these interactive sessions encouraged storytelling through the art of finger knitting ... while building up the conversational English skills of the participants - a great way to explain the difference between NOT & KNOT, KNOW & NO (who know those silent K's were so tricky)!
The Golden Tree

Pupils at Wandle Valley school spent the Spring Term devising a new comedy and movement piece involving Samurai Warriors, Evil Ninjas and Peking Duck! It was performed to friends and family at the end of term and went towards the entire primary school achieving their Explorer Level Arts Award.
The Ruby & The Sandwich
​
The world’s largest ruby is on display at the London Museum. News of a plot to steal the ruby means extra tight security - and who better than, the world’s best security guard. But being on guard 24 hours a day means bringing supplies - including the world’s best sandwich! However, a sinister criminal mastermind is determined to have the ruby and has sent his most notorious spies to the London Museum. Not only do they steal the ruby, but they also steal - the sandwich! Will the museum get its ruby back - and more importantly, will the security guard get his sandwich back?
