We travelled further afield with workshops and wandering surper-heroes in Woking, protesting hedgehogs in Oxford, performances in Horsham and merry-making pirates who turned on the Christmas lights in Cheam.

We also worked with young people from the National Citizenship Service who created the Kraken puppet for our Pirate Panto, provided a vast array of workshops and corporate training in de-escalation techniques and strategies when working with young people for Sutton Library staff, worked with master puppeteer Roman Stefanski on a giant Sumo wrestler puppet AND were invited guests on the Arts Emergency podcast.

A full day of protesting and pop-up performances throughout Oxford town centre, by our inclusive company of actors.

Woking Party in the Park

SAVVY Theatre Company had great fun in the Children's Zone, decorating Superhero masks and posing for photographs.

As well as an array of well-known superhero characters, the Evil Dr.Omlette and his chickens made an appearance, hosting races with the general public to answer the age-old question ... which came first - the chicken or the egg?

The Arts Emergency Podcast

In February 2016, members from the SAVVY Young Company were given the opportunity to 'take over' 10 minutes of the Arts Emergency podcast.

The Tossio brothers leapt at the chance and had great fun interviewing, recording and editing their segment.

Sushi Sumo

The SAVVY Young Company devised a brand new piece involving Samurais, Sumo Wrestlers and Sushi!

As part of the process they worded with master puppeteer Roman Stefanski before unveiling their creation at the Secome Theatre as part of Action Replay's Superhero Show!

A Knightly Tale

For the fourth year running, SAVVY worked with pupils and staff from Wandle Valley school to create their annual Christmas production. This year they re-invented the legend of Camelot, with a new twist in the plot, involving a jousting Guinevere, a hapless Arthur, a singing dragon and an army of zombie knights!

A Variety of Training Workshops

Throughout the year, SAVVY worked with members from learning disabled groups, providing taster workshops in a variety of theatre-related skills.

From lighting, sound and backstage management, to hair, make-up, props and costume. We've also learned about the importance of having front-of-house skills and providing information to audience members.

All of these skills will continue to develop on future SAVVY productions.

Alex In WandleLand

Every year, pupils and staff at Wandle Valley School, devise and perform in their annual pantomime - and this years show proved very popular .... with Mr Hart demanding order for the upcoming OFF-sted, Mr White running late due to a very important date he had last night, Mr Hatter getting in trouble for eating in class and just what is Mr Pillar doing on the table?

This delightfully original re-telling took place in December 2017, with our biggest cast yet!

The Superhero Show

Flying eggs and bad ‘yolks’abounded as Dr.Omlette and his evil chickens tried to scramble their way to world domination! But never fear, the annual Superhero of the Year Award took place and old rivalries thwarted his egg-cellent plans!

Written and directed by Alice Rayman and performed by an inclusive community cast at the Secombe Theatre, June 2016.

Performed by the SAVVY Young Company as part of the National Theatre's Connections Festival.

In typical SAVVY style, the Young Company performed with hilarious pre-show support from the Adult Company. Audience members were frisked by customs, inspected by sniffer dogs and treated to an impromptu performance by Miss Moscow 2003 - all before the show even began!
