The
Secombe Theatre Open Day Workshop On
Saturday 3rd June 2006, after the
success of the 2005 SECOMBE
THEATRE Open Day, Sheree Vickers
decided to re-unite a handful of
her local groups for another
afternnon of shared drama work.
Aside from re-uniting the various
groups, Sheree also decided to
give parents and interested
members of the public the
opportunity to watch and (on
occassion) participate in a
number of the drama activities.
The
groups were:
FALLEN ANGELS (a community arts
project for older people)
SAVVVY DRAMA (a local teenage
theatre group)
THE DELLA ACADEMY (a drama, dance
and singing academy for pupils
aged 6-18years)
The afternoon that was a huge
success, with all participants
melding together in an improvised
frenzy of fun!
Included also were pupils with
Autistic Spectrum disorders,
Tourettes Syndrome and one family
member with Profound &
Multiple Learning Difficulties
(PMLD). Our youngest participant
was 2years old, our eldest over
70!
I had thought we would
be simply giving an exhibition of
what we do at Fallen Angels but
in the event it was even better.
Great fun and noisy! -
Gillain Walker (62years), FALLEN
ANGELS
WHAT WAS YOUR MOST
MEMORABLE MOMENT? When you had
to pretend you were a flower
all people, all different
ages, disabilities
its good. And when you
throw the ball the little
boy was really sweet. I
dont know, but just
everyone joining in. -
Natasha Harvey (13years), THE
DELLA ACADEMY
Mingling with other
types of people different
interpretation and meaning in
what they do.
- Francesca Ho (10years), THE
DELLA ACADEMY
"One man came up to me and
told me that he had seen our last
production. It was really good to
hear someone elses opinion
of our work. - Danielle
Batt (16years), SAVVY DRAMA
"Working with a young
teenager on a driving
lesson improvisation. I was
also fascinated that the
youngsters found it difficult to
take high status when
working with someone
older!!
- Caroline Cartwright (60years),
FALLEN ANGELS
Just inter-acting with
young people was really lovely.
They were all very good but I
suppose it did make me feel my
age rather! Lovely stuff.
Lets do it again.
