| In
2007 SAVVY's
Adult Classes started
with the aim of giving tuition
and guidance to those wishing to
study the craft of acting. Although
the young people's drama group
has been running since 2001 and
various community projects have
also occurred under the SAVVY
banner since that time, the
'ADULTS' strand to the company is
still brand new.
Since
Autumn 2007 SAVVY is delighted to
have not only hosted several
adult (and young adult) acting
& theatre masterclasses, but
to have also made links with the
London Playwrights Collective in
mounting the first Adult Company
production in conjunction with
Sutton's IMAGINE Festival in May
2008.

About
Our Classes
Very
often, the only option open to
adults (not wishing to pursue
their interest in theatre
professionally) is Amateur
Dramatic groups. Although many of
these groups provide rich and
exciting environments, there is
still often a lack of time to
explore and study the craft of
acting and various performance
techniques.
The
aim of SAVVY's Adult Classes are
to:
- give local
adults the opportunity to
study the craft of acting
in a non-threatening
environment
- to
generate
interest is in the local
community to form a
unique adult performance
company - in accordance
with SAVVY'S
COMPANY'S OBJECTIVES
and based on the
structure and success of
the young company
Previous
classes have included:
8-Week Acting Course (culminating in a
showcase performance as part of
Sutton's IMAGINE Festival in May
2010.)
Acting with a Partner (the
art of listening)
Shakespeare's Monologues
Character Choices with a Given
Script
Building a Character through
Improvisation
All
of SAVVY'S Adult Classes are
aimed at:
- young
professionals (aged
19-29years) wanting to
further their performance
skills
- non-professionals
who are wanting to
discover more about the
craft of acting or are
interested in joining the
profession
- anyone
(over19years) who enjoys
performing and the skills
it develops
